Bass boost for everything on your Mac.
macOS has no bass control. TuningMac adds one to the menu bar: a Bass Boost preset, a bass knob and Loudness, applied to Spotify, YouTube, games and every other app, with clip protection so heavy bass stays clean.

Three ways to add bass
- Bass Boost preset: one click lifts the low end from 31 Hz to 250 Hz and leaves voices and detail alone.
- Bass knob: a quick ±12 dB control in Tone & Balance, for more (or less) bass without touching the other sliders.
- Loudness: adds bass as you turn the volume down, so music stays full at low volume.
Heavy bass without distortion
Boosting bass on its own can push the signal past full scale and make it crackle. TuningMac makes room automatically by lowering the overall level as you boost, and a soft limiter catches any peaks that are left. You get the extra bass without the clipping.
Fine-tune the low end
Use the 10-band equalizer to shape exactly where the bass sits: 31 and 62 Hz for rumble, 125 Hz for punch, 250 Hz for warmth. Turned it up too far? The Bass Reducer preset does the opposite.
For precise control, Advanced EQ adds low shelf, bell and low cut filters with exact frequency, gain and Q.
Different bass for every device
TuningMac remembers settings per output. Boost the bass on your headphones, keep your desk speakers natural, and give your MacBook's speakers their own setting. The right one loads automatically when you switch.

Questions
How do I increase the bass on my Mac?+
macOS has no system-wide bass control. With TuningMac, open the menu bar popover and pick the Bass Boost preset, or open Tone & Balance and turn up Bass. It applies to everything your Mac plays.
Does bass boost work in Spotify, YouTube and games?+
Yes. TuningMac shapes all the sound your Mac plays, so the same bass setting applies to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube in any browser, Netflix, games and calls.
Will boosting the bass make my audio distort?+
TuningMac lowers the overall level automatically to make room for big boosts, and a soft limiter catches any peaks that are left, so heavy bass stays clean instead of crackling at full volume.
Can I get more bass from MacBook speakers?+
You can bring out the bass they're able to play, and TuningMac remembers a separate setting for the built-in speakers. Small laptop speakers can't reproduce the deepest bass, though, so the biggest difference is on headphones and external speakers.
What does Loudness do?+
Your ears hear less bass and treble at low volume. Loudness adds bass (up to about 10 dB near silence) and a little treble as you turn the volume down, and fades out at full volume, so music sounds full when you listen quietly.
Can I set bass differently for headphones and speakers?+
Yes. Each output keeps its own EQ, so you can boost the bass on your headphones while your speakers stay flat. TuningMac switches automatically when you change devices.
