  1. 1.2.0

    Latest

    Advanced EQ (parametric)

    • New Settings ▸ Advanced EQ: fine-tune with up to 20 bands, each with its own type (bell, low/high shelf, low/high cut, notch), frequency, gain and width.
    • It starts from your current 10-band sound, so switching changes nothing until you edit it. The regular 10-band EQ and presets are unchanged.
    • Drag the points on the graph, or type exact values.
    • Saved per device, like everything else: your headphones can use Advanced EQ while your speakers keep their presets.
    • Import and export Equalizer APO / AutoEQ files, or paste a headphone correction straight from the clipboard.
    • Switching between presets and Advanced EQ is smooth, with no clicks. Tone, balance and mono keep working with both.
  2. 1.1.5

Fixed: no sound while TuningMac shows "Paused"

    • Sometimes, especially right after allowing System Audio Recording, macOS takes a while to let TuningMac start. Your Mac could go silent during that time and TuningMac kept switching between Paused and on. Now your sound always keeps playing: TuningMac only takes over once its audio is really running, and until then you hear your Mac normally (just without the EQ).
    • Apps left at 100% no longer need their own audio path, which makes TuningMac lighter and more reliable.
    • Moving an app's volume slider is now perfectly smooth: no more tiny audio blips while you drag it.
    • TuningMac no longer mistakes silence for a problem: when nothing is playing it simply waits, instead of restarting over and over and showing "Paused".
  3. 1.1.4

Fixed: Mac goes silent until TuningMac is quit

    • If two copies of TuningMac were open at once (for example one launched at login and another opened from the download), they blocked each other and no sound came out. Now only one copy ever runs: opening TuningMac again closes the older copy automatically.

    Device Info

    • New Settings ▸ Device Info page: live details about your current output and microphone, such as sample rate, bit depth, buffer and latency.
    • For Bluetooth devices it also shows the Bluetooth mode (stereo music or call audio), codec, signal strength, battery, and the model's vendor and firmware info when the device provides it.

    Launch at login

    • New installs now open TuningMac automatically when you log in, so your sound is always on. Turn it off any time in Settings ▸ General. (If you already use TuningMac, your current choice is kept.)
  4. 1.1.3

Fixed: no sound after the Mac sat idle

    • After a long stretch with nothing playing, starting music could leave your Mac silent until TuningMac was quit and reopened. TuningMac now stays fully responsive while it's processing audio, so playback starts straight away.
    • If audio ever does get stuck, TuningMac recovers faster and with much shorter gaps, and tries again as soon as you wake the screen.
    • Better handling of sleep and wake.

    Choose your microphone

    • When your Mac has more than one input (MacBook microphone, AirPods, a USB mic…), a new Input section under Output lets you pick which one apps record from.

    Battery history

    • New Settings ▸ Battery page: a chart of your Bluetooth headphones' and speakers' battery over the last 24 hours or 7 days, with current level, drain per hour and when it was last charged.
    • Recorded on your Mac while TuningMac is running; nothing leaves your Mac.

    Under the hood

    • Update checks now include an anonymous, random install ID so we can count how many Macs use TuningMac. It isn't linked to you, your email or your license key.
  5. 1.1.2

    Free 7-day trial

    • Try every feature free for 7 days: no key or sign-up needed.
    • The menu shows how many days are left, with quick Buy and Enter Key buttons.
    • When the trial ends, your Mac keeps playing audio normally; enter a key to switch TuningMac back on.

    Settings fixes

    • "Default preset" is now "Preset for new devices", with a note explaining what it does, and it now shows your choice immediately.
    • "Start with EQ enabled" now updates immediately when you click it.
    • Removed the "Show menu bar icon" switch, which didn't do anything.
  6. 1.1.1

    More Sony headphones

    • Noise Cancelling, Ambient Sound and Off now work on older Sony models such as the WH-1000XM4, WH-1000XM3, WF-1000XM4 and WF-1000XM3, in addition to the WH-1000XM5 and newer.
    • Ambient Sound level and Focus on Voice are supported on these models too.

    Preset import

    • Importing a file that isn't a TuningMac preset now tells you so, instead of silently doing nothing.
    • Re-importing your own export no longer creates duplicates like "Rock 2".
    • You now get a confirmation showing what was imported.

    Name your presets

    • Saving a preset now asks what to call it, instead of naming it "Custom", "Custom 2"…
    • Rename a preset from the menu (after selecting it), or in Settings ▸ Presets: use the pencil button, double-click it, or right-click it.
    • Devices that use a preset keep using it after you rename it.

    Presets that actually sound different

    • Bass Boost, Treble Boost, Vocal, Rock, Classical, Gaming and Podcast now make a clear, audible difference. Previously they also lowered the overall volume, which cancelled much of their effect.
    • Loud, bass-heavy music stays clean with every preset.

    Auto Sync (beta)

    • Much more reliable measurement, including setups that mix 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz devices.
    • Works with speakers only: headphones and earphones are skipped and never sent test sounds.
    • Shows a warning before it plays its short, loud test chirps.
    • Now an experimental feature you can turn on in Settings ▸ General (off by default).

    Everything else

    • Each device in a multi-output setup keeps its own EQ.
    • Switching between devices that are already playing together no longer interrupts the audio.
    • A tidier menu: only one section opens at a time (the Live Spectrum can stay open).
    • Settings: fixed the sidebar highlight, plus a redesigned About page.
